[Connecticut] First time casting for largemouth this year
« on: April 20, 2017, 05:40:31 PM »
I've been in striper mode since last October, but finally went bass fishing with a buddy yesterday. We hit a place that is either on or it's death warmed over at this time of year. I think it was on, but the wind kept us from really capitalizing on it. Still caught 27 bass between us, fishing from 8 until 2:30. Most were on PanHead jigs.

I had the best of the day with a short, fat, big headed 5-4 that came off a mooring buoy. I never pass up a mooring or marker buoy. The rope or chain that's holding it is pretty much always attached to a substantial hunk of concrete which often holds fish. This one held a good one.

That's a great fish there, Rich!!! :thumbs-up-02:  What is the red stripe on it? Or is that just a reflection on his wet scales?3

Great tip about the concrete below the buoys!

Thank you for sharing the fish and your tip with us :happy-smile:

Usually something like a paca chunk, but yesterday I used a 40 year old Cat Claw Super Tail!

An oinker for sure! I love how people post great catches like that and they indicate a bait that's was used years ago and you don't hear of them any more!
That could be a thread in itself. :)
Nice one for sure Rich.
