[Missouri] A little evening trip.
« on: July 08, 2017, 10:53:17 AM »
My s-I-l and I hit the water yesterday afternoon and stayed until sundown.  We wound up with 20 bass and 4 other species.  Spinnerbaits produced 13 then the bite stopped.  The strange thing was how bad he beat me from the back of the boat.  He had 9 on spinnerbaits while I only had 4.  He was using a home made chartreuse then switched to white with no trailer.  I was using a War Eagle Firecracker with a trailer.  I believe it was the trailer that kept me from hookups. Next time I'll have more than one spinnerbait setup on the deck.

When we left that area we used jigs, paca craws, worms, tubes and Ned rig.  We fished bluff ends main lake points and secondary points and one good flat.  We couldn't catch anything until we moved to the GO TO spot that always produces.  The only fish came on Ned and were smallies.  We could not find the evening bite except Ned so at sundown, dripping with sweat we loaded up and came home.  90° with no breeze was just too much for a couple of old fat dudes.

Thanks for the report. The Ned and small plastics are all I have been able to get bit on after dark this year. Most of those bites are walleye or short smallmouth

Thanks.  I try.  I guided on this lake for 6 years when I was a lot younger.  That has always made me conscious of the guy in the back and me keeping the boat where he can fish.

Sounds like you had a fun night. It's always humbling when the angler in the back of the boat woops us. I've been there too many times myself lol
I know all about that stagnant hot and humid air. We are in that down here now. The only relief is soaking my shirt in the lake, putting it back on and then getting up on plane. Cant catch fish like that though. lol

That sounded like an awesome time, congrats. That 90* weather you had is what I'll be having next Wednesday's tournament. Hope I do as well as you did.
Everyone has to believe in something. I believe I'll go Fishin.
