[Missouri] Even a blind sow finds an acorn now and then
« on: August 18, 2017, 04:21:15 PM »
The forecast was for clear and light wind.  It turned out to be cloudy with a 10 mph out of the SE.  I hit the same area I have been hitting.  I couldn't get bit on white or gray so I switched to a War Eagle Golden Shiner 1/2 oz spinner bait.

I caught some dinks (spots and smallies) early on then the wind died and the bite went south.  A couple of fruitless hours with jigs, craws, and Ned and the wind picked back up.

I fished my good stuff again and started catching fish.  I only had had 6 in the morning.  From noon to 1 I managed to get 12 more and 6 of them were keepers.  There were a bunch of casts from the 5 th keeper to the 6 th one.  I got to the last piece of cover and made 3 casts to each side before I got a bite and it turned out to be old # 6. :D

It has been a while since I had a limit of bass.  Now I think I'll let them rest and go to Oregon for a couple of weeks. ;)

Oregon is just one of the places.  We are heading to Smithville Lake to view the eclipse then on to Council Bluffs Iowa to spend a night in a casino hotel.  Devil's tower and mount Rushmore next.  Then on to Helena Wyoming.  We will wind up in Oregon and spend a few days there looking around.  I have always wanted to see the Willmet Valley.  From there drive down to see the giant redwoods.  Then head home via Salt Lake City and Denver.

I promised my wife I'd go on this trip if she would trade cars.  She did now I must.
