[Tennessee] Morning trip
« on: July 28, 2015, 03:48:56 PM »
After two horrendous TX's last 2 Saturday nights, hit Cherokee early for a morning trip with a friend. Put in just before first light and rolled up on first stop as it was getting light. A minute later my buddy hooks up, then another , and another. 5 fish in the boat 1st 15 min and a 12lb best-5 when we left that spot 45 min later. Had a giant break me off on 1st cast on 2nd stop along with a few more fish. Hit 4 more stops , but heat put an end to our day around 11:30. Had the 1st double of the year also. While i'm fighting a smallmouth, my buddy lays rod down and waits with net. First few times it got near boat it went wild and tore off 20-30 yards of line. He just happens to see his line jump and grabs line and sets hook. Smallie finally in net , he reels for all he's worth and we have two in boat. he also had a Fenwick rod snap on a fairly easy hookset and still managed to land fish. Not a bad trip. We're going to fish the Tuesday nighter this evening and see if we can still find a few.

Sounds like some great fishing until the rod broke at least! ;) Those in the image are a couple of beautiful fish. (y)

Must have been nicked or else I doubt a Fenwick would break that easily. There is a bright side though. Now he has a good excuse to buy a new rod! lol

Nice fish (y) (y) Don't you just love it when you get on the fish and catch them.  Too bad about the rod but, like Jarod said a good excuse to go shopping for a new one.
Put a rod in my hand and a boat under my feet and watch me catch bass.
