Pond bass.
« on: March 28, 2016, 07:27:53 AM »
Good Friday my buddy Don and I were listening for turkeys to gobble at Fred's house.  We heard three and knew where we needed to go on Saturday.  It was early so we went and got Don's small boat and hit Fred's pond. I missed several fish and looked at the hook on my line and changed it out as well as the weight.  I did the same on a rod with a ribbet frog.  Don is still in the learning stages as to figuring out hooks to fit the baits. After making the adjustments the hookups were steady all day.  I don't know how many fish we caught a released. All were in the 1.5 to 2.5 range.  The best and funniest was when I threw over a limb that was about 2.5 feet above the water with a horny toad, the lure was swing about 18 inches above the  water  and a two pound bass jumped out of the water three times trying to get the lure.  I lowered the lure to just off the water and that bass hit it so hard it broke the limb off and I got a poor hook up and got the fish along side the boat and made a quick release.  Don was laughing so hard at the sight of that bass jumping out of the water we had to call it a day and go  home.

Put a rod in my hand and a boat under my feet and watch me catch bass.

That post reminded me of the parody song, Cletus Take The Reel.

I was disappointed at the rods and reels get him some Don has that I had to help him out I gave him two rods and 12 reels and about 25 pounds of plastic lures yesterday and told him we needed to go to academy and we would get him some rods to fit his reels. After showing him my rod locker he was ready to go get some new tackle.
