Boats At Dealers Now
« on: June 26, 2020, 04:06:18 PM »
Yesterday and today I spent troubleshooting my Johnson outboard. It got down to where I wasnt sure if it was spark or fuel supply. I was pretty sure fuel supply was an issue due to the gas being so old and the boat sitting so long. But when i checked the spark, I started to suspect spark as an issue too. The spark is there but it appears weak. Upon researching the cause of weak spark I learned that 2 of the most common culprits are the magnets on  the fly wheel and the stator underneath the fly wheel. The only way to see if they are an issue is to remove the flywheel. I considered doing that so i could check  them both but upon seeing what us involved in that process I decided to first take it to professionals so they can tell me if that is the issue before I start taking the top of my engine apart.

Now it sits at the dealers waiting for them  to check it all out. It may take a couple weeks before they get a chance to look at it but at least my boat is one step closer to me riding in it again.

Good luck and good move bringing it to the professionals. As my uncle used to say; "If you want a loaf of bread, go to the bakery." So true.

I can fix anything in my house but when it come to anything that runs on fossil fuel, I'm all thumbs. Best have it done right that way you'll have piece of mind when you launch your rig.

My fingers are crossed bud.
