Suprise, Suprise
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:34:25 AM »
Towed the camper to my sister's property on the Gasconade River last week to hang with sis and brother-in-law while they are in from San Diego. On Sat. Margaret and I were out on the river bass fishing, as usual, and hooked into this pig Drum. Dummy me left the scale at the trailer, had it out of the boat to weigh an 11in gizzard shad on Tues and never put it back, but it felt to be around 5-7lbs.

Them things will for sure put a bend in your rod and strip line of your reel. They are fun to catch.

We had 2 of them yesterday on the Ned rig while bass fishing but they were no where as large as that one.
If you're too busy to go fishin' you're too busy.

Hey Jigman that looks like a freshwater drum to me and they can sure put up a fight.  I have caught them up to six pounds and they pull like a freight train.
Put a rod in my hand and a boat under my feet and watch me catch bass.

Yes it is Joe and yes it did put up a good fight. Thought that I might have gotten a hold of a big ol' flathead at first.

Jigman, I had one about 3lbs get off as I was pulling him into the boat. That was about 3/4mi upstream. The only bass I caught was around 6in. Alas, no dink sheet with me.
