[Sonar] Towing with Electronics Mounted
« on: June 21, 2017, 03:08:05 PM »
Both of my electronics are fairly basic and are mounted in brackets on the front deck and on the helm.  Since these are easily removable I have never towed the boat with this units mounted.  Can't give you a reason, just have never done it.  Kinda curious what you guys do.  Tow mounted or unmounted.  I realize that if you have in dash units that is not an option for for you guys on external mounts I would like to hear your feedback.  Most of my friends tow with their electronics mounted.

I have 1 in dash unit that has never been out of the boat.  I have 2 bow mounted units which have only been off the boat one time and that is now as my rig is in for a new trailer axle and I wasn't going to leave that kind of money setting around on the back lot of the repair center

If you're too busy to go fishin' you're too busy.

My electronics are on the boat during my fishing season. The only time I remove them is when winter comes and I put the boat up. Or when I take it to have work done on the boat. Other than that all I do is put the cover on them during my season. Which is April to October.
Everyone has to believe in something. I believe I'll go Fishin.

I only remove mine when the boat is unsecured, like now sitting in my driveway. All of my "desirable" equipment is removed when out of the garage.

Mine are on the boat 24/7-365 I tow them mounted and cover them when parked.  Have not had any problems with them in the past 2.5 years when I mounted them.
Put a rod in my hand and a boat under my feet and watch me catch bass.

I have two Helix 7 models that I have mounted using the standard hardware.  I do not remove them and have not had issues.  Truth be told, the boat bounces more in rough water than when being towed, even on dirt roads or pot holes.
