[How To] Mention Friends and Other Members in Your Posts
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:20:06 PM »
We have a great feature on Fishinpedia that allows you to mention another members name in a post and that mention will alert that specific person.

Have you ever made a post on a forum while having a discussion with a friend and then that friend may not be aware of your reply or a question you may have asked them? Or perhaps someone asked you a question or made a statement directed at you and you weren't aware for quite some time. It's happened to me plenty of times.

Sure there are ways to be alerted of replies to a topic you are following but that requires that you have posted in that topic. Well, with our new feature it's very simple to give the other person(s) in your conversation an alert that they were specifically mentioned even if that person has not posted in that topic and has no notifications set for that topic.

All one must do is type an @ symbol followed by the person name.

After you type the @ symbol begin typing the members username and a menu will pop up allowing you to click on their name.

Example being @Jared which would then alert me that you were trying to get my attention and have me alerted about that specific post.

Depending on the name, you may have only one to choose from

or many to choose from.

Simply click on the name you wish to mention and there ya go! Now @Jared and @joe waller will be made aware of their mention so that they can respond.

This is a great new feature that I think will promote better communication and more active discussions. I hope that everyone enjoys this awesome Fishinpedia feature!

And the Show Unread Posts is an awesome feature @lipripper . This new mention feature works great to alert others of your post as well. Take for example if you make a post and you want me or another member(s) to be aware of it, you can use this mention feature with their name(s) to alert  them.

:D
