Update On Jared
« on: September 12, 2018, 05:33:55 PM »
Just in case you don't follow him on Facebook he has been having trouble and worrying on how to transport his mom out of the house because they need to leave because of the hurricane . Here is his last post on Facebook. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Ok, so FINALLY I have good news! I now have medical transportation for Mom. I called the company that has transported Mom to her doctors in the past (at $400 a pop) and they said because Mom is now going to a hospital (which is where the shelter is being set up) that Medicare will now cover her transportation. THANK YOU! They will be here at 6:30 to pick up Mom in their wheelchair van (the stretcher ambulances are all booked up already) and they will take her to the shelter. I will follow behind in my truck, loaded with all our supplies. The only issue I will have once ;there is getting her from the chair into the bed without our Hoyer Lift to assist. Though I am pretty confident that I can wrangle a nurse or an aid to assist me with that. Now all I have to hope for is that our home is still in one piece when we return.

Jared posted this on Facebook yesterday.

Finally get to close my eyes.
Our saga took a major turn for the worse, once we arrived at the hospital shelter.
We were directed to the 2nd floor shelter. When we got there they told me Mom was not on the list. I showed them the forms. I told them that I spent the past two days on the phone with a hospital administrator setting this all up. They called someone and put them on the phone with me.
The lady on the phone tried to explain why Mom was not possibly on the shelter list. Then she told me she would arrange transportation to take Mom back to Darlington. MISTAKE!!
I went off on this woman, in the most professional manner that I could maintain. In short I told her we weren’t going anywhere. They were mistaken and they better get mother a room.
After about 20 minutes of this bullshit, 2 nurses stepped off the elevator. They ask “Helen Pease?”
They then tell me they were looking for us. There is another shelter on the 1st floor.
Those two nurses were so very nice. I never did hear back from the lady on the phone who was trying to ship Mom back home.
The two nurses got me a cart to get all our clothes and supplies to the room. They also brought me a recliner to sleep in. It’s a death trap but it’s better than the floor.
I’m grateful.
