Missouri Angler, Mickie Wolfinbarger Wins LBAA on Logan Martin

What an exciting event it was on the waters of Lake Logan Martin as the Lady Bass Anglers Association traversed the waters searching for the renowned Coosa River spotted bass. After two days of tough and changing conditions the ladies proved their skills as top notch anglers as they remained focused through the changes and brought bass to the scales on the stage at Caribe in Lincoln, Alabama.

Parks Pursues Patent Infringement at ICAST

Steve Parks marched across the show floor. The 10th-degree black belt and Strike King Lures designer was angry. Someone had infringed on his patent, he said—and under the bright lights of ICAST, he was going to confront the perpetrators. “It happened the first day I was here,” Parks tells. “One of my buyer groups came up and told me that the Rage Tail Craw was in the New Product Showcase.”

Bassmaster Elite Series pro James Elam captured his second victory on Oklahoma waters by winning the season-ending Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open at Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. The Tulsa, Okla., angler finished with a three-day total of 36 pounds, 14 ounces to win the pro division top prize of a Skeeter ZX200, Yamaha SHO200, Skeeter tandem-axle Tuff-coated trailer with brakes, Minn Kota Fortrex 80F-US2 45-inch shaft trolling motor, Lowrance Elite Ti 7 dash and bow electronics and prop valued at $45,000, along with $8,491 in cash. Elam also won the 2015 Bassmaster Central Open at Fort Gibson.

Toby Hartsell Leads Bassmaster Open Grand Lake

Toby Hartsell relied on his home-waters advantage at Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees to take the lead in the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open finale.

The 46-year-old Afton, Okla., angler caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 5 ounces despite struggling recently to catch bass on his home lake. “The fishing has been really bad,” said Hartsell, the co-owner of an automated boat cover business. “It had gotten to the point where I couldn’t even catch five keepers. I could go out tomorrow and not catch a limit.”

Bassmaster Central Open On Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees Will Decide Season Points Title

It’s a rare occasion when Arizona pro Josh Bertrand gets to fish an event with little or no pressure. But that’s where he finds himself as he prepares for the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open scheduled for Oct. 5-7 on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. A regular on the Bassmaster Elite Series, Bertrand finished 29th in the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings, securing his berth in the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. Although he currently leads the Central Opens division standings, he feels no pressure to win at Grand or even to have a strong showing to guarantee his spot on next year’s Elite Series.

Fukae Grabs Leads Bassmaster Southern Open Smith Lake

Many anglers predicted the bass would be tightlipped in temperatures that climbed into the low 90s during Thursday’s first round of the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Open on Smith Lake.

They were right.

But a handful of the 175 pros still managed to boat nice bags, including Shin Fukae who led the way with a five-bass limit that weighed 15 pounds, 4 ounces.
